Webinar is like a teleconference but instead of having everyone speak, there would be only the speakers giving the talk like in a seminar. I found this really useful for many reasons:
1. Saves time and effort to travel to a different location
2. Saves cost of organisers and participants as there is no need to book a conference room and no travel,accommodation, administration costs involved
3. Environmentally friendly
4. More people from around the globe can participate
5. No need to be shy to ask questions as questions are typed in, rather than asked out loud
6. No need to take a day or half day off to attend this – helps the economy
I have to say this was my first time asking a question. Despite the benefits, some still feel that face to face interaction is important and gathering of people will encourage discussion as well as an opportunity to network. Some even feel this will take away their opportunity to travel, using company’s expenses – escaping your routine from time to time is actually good.
